Impact List

Impact List is a project aimed at the creation, popularization, and maintenance of a list which ranks the top N living people by their positive impact via donations. The goal is to make the list popular enough to increase the status awarded to those who rank highly, bring more awareness to the importance of donation effectiveness, and ultimately cause people to donate more effectively and/or donate more money.

Atstake

Atstake is a plaform for the fair enforcement of two-person contracts, using Ethereum. It’s a first step toward a general system of private law, where people post bonds which are forfeit if they don’t live up to their agreements. Atstake is extremely general and can be used for almost any type of agreement.

Improving institutional decision making

Society’s decisions are very far from optimal, both because of misaligned incentives and inaccurate beliefs about how the world works. This is especially unfortunate because technological progress is accelerating and destabilizing society and politics. Not being able to coordinate well in the face of existential risks is very bad.

I believe prediction markets may be a key to solving this problem. I explain in this writeup.
